Weekly Interview - Stanley Chow

Name: Stanley Chow
Medium(s): Apple Mac, Adobe Illustrator.
Where you live: Manchester

What inspires you to make your art?
I don’t think it’s inspiration as much. It’s just something that I do.. it’s part of me. It’s like people read books or watch TV, play video games… I do all those things, but make art too… i just feel very privileged that I can make a living from it.

Is there anything you wish you had done differently about your art career thus far?
I wish I had more confidence in doing what I love first, which is portraiture and caricatures at the start of my career. I’ve been down many avenues in the world of illustration from fashion illustration and storyboarding… but drawing peoples faces has always been my favourite topic.

Please describe yourself (As you would if required by a dating website, perhaps).
Self-motivated, determined son of bitch with GSOH.

What are people always surprised to find out about you?
That I’m 37 and happily married with children.

If you had a time machine, which year would you visit and why?
2044… just to find out if I would still be drawing pictures when I’m 70.

Tell me one thing about yourself that you’ve never told anyone.
I used to play with Barbie Dolls when I was a child, but secretly preferred the Sindy doll.
